Flyfisher’s Club Annual Picnic: A Day of Records, Sunshine, and Community

On August 12, the Flyfisher’s Club held their annual picnic at the Westmoreland Casting Ponds and it was a day to remember. With record turnout, perfect weather, and abundance of laughter, this year’s event was nothing short of spectacular.

One of the highlights of the picnic was the incredible support from various sponsors who generously donated prizes for the raffle. Thank you to Royal Treatment Fly Fishing, Northwest Fly Fishing Outfitters, The Portland Fly Shop, Orvis, and FCO member John Redhouse, as well as guides Brian Silvey, Eric Leininger, Rob Perkin, and Rob Crandall for making sure that everyone went home with a prize.

Delicious food was provided by DeNicola’s, who also kindly donated gift cards to add to the excitement of the day.  Ron Lauzon brought a number of rods to cast, and both Ron and Jennifer LaFollette offered free casting lessons at the pond to those new to the sport as well as experienced casters looking to improve their skills.

The club also used this well attended gathering as an opportunity to encourage members to provide input and get involved with a survey and sign-up sheet.  The success of our club continues to depend on the efforts of its members.

In his closing remarks, club President Mike Radakovich expressed his gratitude to all who made the picnic a success. This year’s event showcased the strength of the fly fishing community, the spirit of giving, and the shared passion for this timeless sport.  Here’s to many more successful celebrations.

Best regards,

Jim Hillas
