Club Outing – Laurance Lake
July 20, 2019
FreeJoin fellow members for an outing to Laurance Lake on the back side of Mt Hood. Laurance Lake is a 52 acre lake that offers a handful of primitive campsites for those who want to spend the night. There is no limit on anglers and no cost to fish other than the $5 per vehicle parking fee for the day. The drive time from Portland is 1.5 hours. Bring your own food.
Laurance Lake is stocked with rainbow trout, and also has a wild population of redbands and bull trout. The bull trout are protected and must be released and are not to be removed from the water in the process. Laurance can, at times, have outstanding dry fly fishing. It gets a big hatch of Callibaetis Mayflies that gets trout looking up. It is a deep lake, so sinking lines are also useful. A watercraft of some kind is necessary as the shore is tree lined. It should be a fun day!
