Euro Nymphing with Evan Unti
July 12, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$33.00 – $55.00Like every sport, fly fishing has its innovations. One of the biggest and most productive is a technique called European Style Nymphing.
Fly fisherman in Czechoslovakia, Poland, and France perfected Euro-nymphing and competitive fly anglers adopted their tactics to win tournament after tournament around the globe. As other fisherman discovered just how productive Euro-nymphing is, this technique showed up online and invaded North America.
Euro-nymphing is incredibly effective at breaking down sections of river and allowing you to fish every inch of it. When you’re a Euro-nymphing expert, you’ll notice the small differences on a river’s bottom and, best of all, you’ll hook far, far more fish.
Speaker Bio: Evan Unti was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, but spent a full eight years living in the southern region of the state. After graduating from Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Evan worked in a fly shop and fished like a wild man on his days off. Evan joined the team at Deschutes Angler in Maupin in 2006. He has been guiding full-time since then.
An accomplished angler and casting instructor, Evan is a great guide and fun to be with on the water. He is also a Euro nymph expert offering all manner of instructing at clinics and camps. If you wish to hone your casting skills, either single handed or Spey, Evan is a qualified instructor in all disciplines.
Evan spends a lot of time at the tying bench creating effective new fly patterns to use on the waters that we fish. He is a skilled and creative fly tyer who is always ready to share his unique patterns with our fly fishing guests. On his days off, if not fishing, you might find Evan working on his small organic farm with his wife, daughter and two dogs. He is a passionate saltwater fly fisher and enjoys spending a significant chunk of his off-season chasing permit in Belize.
