Annual Paddle Raise Dinner for the Deschutes River Conservancy
May 9 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm$33.00 – $55.00
Join us Tuesday May 9 for the Annual Keith Hansen Memorial Paddle Raise to Support our 2023 Grantee, the Deschutes River Conservancy (DRC).
The DRC has been working for over 27 years to improve streamflow in the Deschutes River Basin. Through their collaborative work with partners, DRC has been able to put more than 208 cubic feet per second (cfs) of water back into the Deschutes River and its tributaries. That’s the amount of water it would take to fill over 8.5 Olympic-sized swimming pools per hour. These increased flows are essential to the efforts of improving habitat for resident redband trout and for restoring steelhead and salmon runs above Lake Billy Chinook.
While much of DRC’s work has focused on the upper and middle sections of the Deschutes, DRC recognizes the interconnectivity of the river system and has been aggressively pursuing opportunities to extend its work below Lake Billy Chinook and the Pelton-Round Butte Dam Complex. To that end, DRC recently applied for funding through The Fly Fisher Foundation (TFF) and their 2023 conservation grant to enhance DRC’s work in the all-important Trout Creek. We are excited to announce that DRC was selected as the 2023 grantee.
Presenters at the May 9 dinner include DRC Executive Director Kate Fitzpatrick, and Program Associate James O’Brien, who will share more about the mission and methods of the organization including details on how this year’s Paddle Raise funds will be used to benefit Trout Creek.
Please sign up early and be ready to support the DRC with donations at this special dinner program!
