Sunset at Justesen Ranch

Spectacular Views, Plenty of  Water, Hungry Trout

President Hillas received these brief reports from Amanda Justesen from Justesen Ranches | Central Oregon sharing angler success on their 15 private lakes in Central Oregon. Justesen Ranches are a great, safe getaway for big trout whether you make it a day trip or stay over on the property.

Hank had a great two days on the lakes- huge 24’+ inch trout in Big Lake, more big fish in Pig Pen, slightly smaller fish in Davis, but all fished well.  Fish were rolling and he was catching fish on chironomids.

I had a good day on the lakes yesterday. I fished Pig Pen, Upper Twin, and 1000 acre. Caught fish in all three lakes. Sub-surface activity, nothing on top. The fish are in good condition. The water is still pretty cold. -Hunter

Very nice day. Quite a few beauties. No real top water bite but got a few on a  foam water boatman. The fish are all in fabulous shape. Hope to go again later in the spring. Thanks -Charlie

Fished the Driveway Lake (Fred’s Driveway) yesterday afternoon and caught several nice sized fish. – Bruce W

Per Amanda Justesen, April has spurred more fish to key in on dry flies. If you make the trip, send some pics and a brief report to your Flyline editor. Thanks!

RECORDING: March 2021 LBCC Monthly Meeting – 3/25/2021 @7pm Via Zoom Mtg

Editor’s Note: If you would like to catch last month’s presentation offered to FCO members from the Long Beach Casting Club, here’s the information to view the recording. The partnership to help restore sockeye gives us hope for the fish and the region. LKH

For those of you who missed or would like to hear again below is the link to our March speaker James Monteith. James’s topic was the restoration of Sockeye Salmon to Wallowa Drainage in NE Oregon. This talk is unique in that it is in a beautiful part of our country few of us have visited or even knew existed. The talk will also feature the incredible partnership between farmers, resident locals, the original locals the Nez Perce Tribe and the State of Oregon. This partnership allowed the effort to become a reality. While there is still much to be done the future looks bright for the area and Sockeye. This is a view only recording and you will not be able to download. Hope you are enjoying this new feature for our club that allows us to have the meetings on file.
