May 12th FCO/FFF Auction canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic
While we are very sad to cancel this critical event that is super fun, and that provides funds for conservation organizations, research at Oregon State University, and procurement for one of America’s finest fly fishing libraries — we just had to.
The Foundation Board, with support from FCO President Jim Hillas, engaged in discussion about cancelling, postponing, or going to a “virtual” event. After much review of the options, the Board decided unanimously to focus on a healthy 2021 as our next auction event. Save the date! May 11, 2021, back at the Multnomah Athletic Club.
As I contacted all the people who were contributing food events, fishing trips and items for this year, people unanimously pledged to be back in 2021 with these fantastic auction items.
Western Rivers Conservancy staff, and their winning Williamson River project, were very understanding about the cancellation. Foundation President John Pyrch provided them a check for $5000, which is the minimum we guarantee for grantees through the Keith Hansen Memorial Paddle Raise.
Please continue to be safe and remember social distancing! Fishing is a great activity, even for this unusual time. Certainly you can head out on your own. Curt and his fishing buddies are driving separate cars, chatting while they gear up from 6′ intervals, and hitting the water with the usual distance between anglers.
