I’m excited to see everyone at the annual auction next Tuesday! We have over 50 live and silent auction items to bid on including gear, guided trips, vacation rentals and more. If you haven’t registered for the auction yet, now is the time. Registration ends this Wednesday, May 1, so round up those last minute guests and join us for a fun night while supporting WaterWatch’s restoration efforts on the Crooked River.
Our first club fishing outing of 2019 is Saturday May 18 at Rocky Ridge Ranch. Space is limited for this private water event, so sign up now to reserve your spot. $135 per angler provides access to three lakes stocked with rainbow trout, plus some incidental bass and panfish, and the club is hosting a BBQ shore lunch. BYOB. Float tubes and pontoon boats work well, and the upper lake also can be fished wading or casting from shore. Bring a 5-6 weight rod, plus floating and sinking lines to cover depths up to 30 feet. Most standard still water fly patterns will work, especially leeches, chironomids, SJ worms and the like. Look for some hatches if the weather stays warm.
Finally, don’t forget my President’s Photo Challenge. Send photos of your fishing adventures (and misadventures) for the club website. We all love Steve Willhite, and he certainly goes on some fun fishing trips, but I know he is not the only angler with a camera, so share your pics!
Tight lines,
Jim
