From 2019 Auction Chair Janet Arenz –
I’m very happy to be the newbie auction chair, officially installed 9 days after I retired. Thank goodness it was handed off as an extremely well organized package, making it easy for a quick start. I jumped in on the most popular oral auction items, and was thrilled to discover that we have many loyal friends and will have popular returning items like carp fishing, the Bandon tree house, and Rocky Ridge fishing with overnight cabin.
New items include a guided walk and wade fishing trip on the Crooked River, and a long weekend at Black Butte Ranch for winter sports or hunkering down. We are working on other new overnight trips as well!
There are many other oral and silent auction items coming in every day. We know we have rods, reels and fantastic sets of flies by the best tyers. Don’t forget the fabulous Board Baskets, a collection of the best wine, spirits and other gourmet items.
And We Still Need Your Beautifully Tyed Flies!
We are looking for several of you to tye a dozen of your favorite flies that we can put in the auction. Our thanks to Rick Pay and Steve Schulmerick who contributed beautiful flies! Contact information for questions or how to get the flies to auction chair Janet Arenz: , 503-995-4075. We’ll need them by April 15th. Thanks!!
Sign Up and Invite Friends!
Inviting friends and colleagues? Great! Don’t forget that the primary purpose of the auction is to support conservation of Oregon’s water and fish. Everyone is welcome, whether they fly fish or not. Note that we have many auction items for supporters who don’t fish, including weekends at Cannon Beach and Black Butte Ranch, a guided crabbing trip, a tree house adventure, and lots of other ways to support conservation.
Registration is open! You can go in any time to www.flyfisherscluboregon.com for registration. As we get closer to the May 7th auction date, we’ll be posting oral auction items on the website so you can be plotting your bidding strategies.
Can’t make the auction this year?
No worries, we can still feel your presence! The website also gives you an opportunity to make a donation.
We are looking forward to a great event, supporting WaterWatch to help them with their Crooked River project. More information on this grantee is on our website.
