Fall has officially arrived. The days are cooling (finally), and the evenings have a crispiness to them. Leaves are changing color and falling. And, fishing for our beloved steelhead is on the minds and on the calendars of many of our Club members.
The fall finds The Flyfishers’ Club continuing to grow in membership. Nearly 30 new members have joined seasoned members to become actively involved in the Club. Their energy and enthusiasm is spurring creative ideas, generating new events and fostering new friendships.

We are always on the hunt for new members and will soon unveil a new membership campaign that will commence in early 2026. Our target is to increase membership by 20% in the early part of 2026. You can do your part by bringing guests to our next two dinner meetings and encouraging friends and family to join the Club.
Our next dinner meeting is Thursday, October 23 at the University Club. (Note, this dinner is on a Thursday – a break from our usual Tuesday night meetings.)
Our guest presenter will be Todd Moen, one of the most talented filmmakers of fly fishing-related topics of our day. He is the co-founder and lead contributor of Catch Magazine, one of the leading fly fishing journals in print or media.
Todd is constantly on the go somewhere in the world, filming extraordinary fly fishing destinations. We caught Todd in between trips and are very lucky to have him as our dinner meeting presenter. Todd will show a medley of his short films from around the world.  You do not want to miss the October 23 meeting. Sign up now and bring a friend.
The Club’s Holiday Dinner will be held Tuesday December 9 at the University Club and will feature Tom Bie, publisher and editor of The Drake Magazine. Tom resides primarily in Denver, Colorado but spends part of each winter in Oregon, doing his magazine work from here while also setting aside time to chase winter steelhead. More information about the December 9 holiday dinner meeting will be forthcoming. In the meantime, mark your calendars.
Club Program Committee members Jerry Swanson and Paul Franklin report that they have confirmed five great speakers for the 2026 dinner meetings. The roster includes well-known fly fishing experts who have remarkable stories to tell and lessons to share from their fishing experiences. Stay tuned for the list of 2026 speakers coming to the FCO website soon.
Regarding speakers, the Club needs your help. Securing high-quality speakers costs money. Member dues do not come close to covering speaker costs. Please consider donating to the Club or the Fly Fisher Foundation to help us continue to bring top-notch speakers to our dinner meetings.
Soon, you will be able to donate to the Club or Foundation via the Club’s website. In the interim, please contact me if you would like to donate.
Finally, don’t forget to set your clock back an hour on November 2.
Tight lines and with gratitude.
Mike Radakovich, President.

Renewing Your Club Membership Just Became Easier
Starting this month and if you paid your last membership dues on-line via the Club’s website, renewing your membership when it becomes due will be easy. Just before your membership anniversary date, you will receive an email indicating that your membership will be automatically renewed unless you choose to not renew. The Club’s website has securely stored the credit card you used last time to renew and will automatically charge your card for the $100 annual membership dues unless you respond to the email and ask to be dropped from the Club’s rolls.
This new process makes it super easy for you and very easy for the Club’s Membership Committee to get you renewed when your membership comes due. No more sending checks unless you want to do so. And, no more having to complete a form on-line!
If you did pay this past year’s dues with a check the Membership Committee will contact you about renewing when your renewal date is about to come up and will encourage you to renew on-line to make it easy for both the Committee and you a year downstream.
