How we doing?
June is here, fabulous Oregon strawberries, awesome sunny days and stone fly and salmon fly hatches!! What better time to be in the Pacific Northwest?
The Flyfishers’ Club has had an incredible first half of the year! We elected our new Board that is incredibly talented and very energetic.
We have had two great speaker dinner events with Jeff Perin and Brian O’Keefe. Both meetings had great turnouts, the speakers were excellent, and we had very positive member feedback.
Fisheries biologist John McMillan is the featured speaker at the June 10 Club dinner meeting. John is a former winner of the Foundation’s annual scholarship given to an OSU graduate student and will be the first scholarship winner ever to come back as an accomplished professional to speak to the Club. John’s professional work has centered on how to revive steelhead and salmon runs and he will share what he has learned at the June 10 meeting. New member recruiting has skyrocketed in the last few months, with over 25 new members recently joining our ranks. This is unprecedented and exciting growth in our Club and bodes well for our future.
We recently held a Welcome Happy Hour for new members. Eleven new members attended and showed great enthusiasm for getting involved in Club activities as volunteers. The Happy Hour was a great success!
I want to thank all of our new members for joining the Club and also thank those who helped bring them to our Club.
We have also had great success in renewing current members with all but a handful now renewed. Again, this bodes well for the future of our Club, and I thank all members who renewed for 2025.
Mark your calendar for the annual Club Picnic to be held at Westmoreland Park on August 12. See below for preliminary details.
My thanks to all who have put in the work to keep our Club going and growing. Enjoy life and I look forward to seeing you at the June 10th dinner meeting.
With gratitude,
Mike Radakovich, President
