Deschutes River Conservancy is the 2023 Grantee

The Flyfishers Foundation is very proud to announce that the Deschutes River Conservancy is our 2023 grantee. The project description posted in this month’s Conservation Corner has a history of success but needs more funding support to help assure water quality for wild steelhead in Trout Creek.

Deschutes River Conservancy Executive Director Kate Fitzpatrick said, “We are so excited for The Flyfishers Foundation to support steelhead habitat in Trout Creek! Thank you for your selection of the Conservancy, we are very appreciative.”

For our event this year, we will meet at the University Club on Tuesday, May 9th. The evening includes our Wet Fly Hour 6pm with hors d’oeuvres, Dinner at 7 pm with hosted wine at the tables, our presentation from the Deschutes River Conservancy project, and the Keith Hansen Memorial Paddle Raise. There will be no auction items this year, but we are hoping that may translate into great donation support for the grantee. Go to the Conservation Corner to learn more about this important project on our beloved Deschutes River.

Can’t Make the Drive into Portland for the Monthly FCO Meeting? Zoom On In!

Thanks to Program Chair Jim Hillas, members who live outside the Portland area or those who might not be able to drive in to the University Club will be able to view the speaker’s presentation live via Zoom. Jim and your FCO Board members hope the Zoom offerings will help more members engage regularly and enjoy the valuable presentations offered each month. Check your inbox for Jim’s March 6th email announcing Carp on the Fly with Eric Leininger.

2023 Dues Notices – Did You Misplace Yours?

All members should have received their 2023 FCO dues notices via email in January. If yours was accidently deleted or just got buried, you can renew your membership here. Please consider renewing your membership! Your Club has plans to embark on more member engagement activities while continuing our excellent monthly presentations. And we welcome your suggestions to add activities. Thank you for supporting your Club and Foundation!

Trout Season is just around the corner!

The above photo was submitted by Ken a few months ago but your Flyline editor missed posting it at the time. I understand the catch is from an undisclosed location in Oregon (that was revealed to me). I challenge members to send in their guesses for the river where this beauty was caught and I will post the name of member who submitted the first correct response in next month’s newsletter!
