Details: The Hike will be led by Club member Caroline Fitchett, who is also the Executive Director of the Salmonberry Trail Foundation. The Foundation is building an 82 mile rail-to-trail pathway from Banks to the Oregon Coast, and you will walk a 3.2 mile stretch through the beautiful Tillamook Forest. The hike is on level ground and includes walking on both train tracks and ground next to the tracks. You start at Cochran Pond and pass a historic ghost logging town with some remnants of a mill and train station. Caroline will point out interesting and historic areas along the way, including old-growth forest remnants from before the Tillamook Burn. An easy hike.
