SUMMARY:Salmonberry River Trail Hike with FCO Members
DESCRIPTION:TAKE A GUIDED HIKE ALONG THE BEAUTIFUL SALMONBERRY RIVER TRAIL\nWhere: Salmonberry River Trail\, about 50 minutes from Portland off Hwy. 26. See link below for directions \nWhen: Saturday\, May\, 2nd\, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. \nWho: Club members\, family\, and guests \nAvailable spots: 20 \nDetails: The Hike will be led by Club member Caroline Fitchett\, who is also the Executive Director of the Salmonberry Trail Foundation. The Foundation is building an 82 mile rail-to-trail pathway from Banks to the Oregon Coast\, and you will walk a 3.2 mile stretch through the beautiful Tillamook Forest. The hike is on level ground and includes walking on both train tracks and ground next to the tracks. You start at Cochran Pond and pass a historic ghost logging town with some remnants of a mill and train station. Caroline will point out interesting and historic areas along the way\, including old-growth forest remnants from before the Tillamook Burn. SUMMARY:Salmonberry Trail Open House
DESCRIPTION:We’d like to invite you to attend this special open house for the Salmonberry Trail. Our Club will have an information table at the event as part of our outreach for new members. We’ve been following the trail’s development as it relates to access for fishing and protecting the waters we love to fish\, especially the Salmonberry and Nehalem Rivers. \nPlease join us this Saturday\, Sept. 27th in Buxton.  \nThis is a good opportunity to keep track of the trail’s current status\, meet the people involved\, mingle with our members\, and experience the trail and Dairy Creek (one of the many waterways the trail traverses on its way to the ocean). \nDate: Saturday\, September 27\, \nTime: 2:00 – 4:00 pm. \nPublic Coast Farm will provide light refreshments\, and the trail’s partners\, history\, and flora and fauna will be discussed. \nFeel free to reach out to Caroline Fitchett at 503.888.1233  \n(call or text)  with any questions. \nThe schedule is: \n\n2:00 – 3:00: Socializing\nUpdates on near-term segments and partnerships (starting at 3 PM)\nHow the trail supports adjacent businesses like Public Coast Farm\nLight snacks and refreshments (family-friendly)\nA short guided walk on the rail corridor (closed-toe shoes recommended)\n\nFamily is welcome! \nPlease click here to register so they can track attendance and be prepared. \nThe tracks recently cleared\nFerns galore on rock cliff along the Nehalem River\nA volunteer hikes the tracks inside the Tillamook Forest\nThe full Salmonberry Trail – 4 segments connecting the Portland Metro area to the Oregon coast.
