SUMMARY:Fly Fishing Collaborative's 11th Live Auction & Banquet
DESCRIPTION:  \nCreating sustainable solutions to Food Insecurity and Preventing Human Trafficking.\nFish Farm Collaborative builds sustainable aquaponic farms that feed families and strengthen communities around the world. \nWe focus on food insecurity because it is one of the most consistent drivers of vulnerability. When families lack reliable access to food\, the risk of exploitation rises. By addressing food insecurity upstream\, we help prevent human trafficking before it starts. \n\nOur work is practical.\nOur partnerships are local.\nOur impact is built to last.\n\nWe build aquaponic farms in communities facing food insecurity. These farms produce fish and vegetables year-round and are owned and operated by trusted local partners once complete. This approach allows Fish Farm Collaborative to remain nimble while communities lead long-term solutions. \n\nWe Build.\nWe Partner.\nWe Step Back.\n\nThere is a well-documented link between food insecurity and human trafficking. When families are stable and fed\, they are less vulnerable to exploitation. Our mission is programmatic and measurable. Our vision is aspirational. We go upstream to stop food insecurity and prevent human trafficking\, one community at a time. \nFish Farm Collaborative was founded in 2014 as Fly Fishing Collaborative. As the organization grew\, our work became clear. Sustainable food systems were the most direct and scalable way to address vulnerability and prevent trafficking upstream. Our name evolved to reflect our focus today. Through our sister platform\, Fish Well. Do Good.\, we continue to mobilize the fly-fishing community to support this mission through storytelling\, engagement\, and awareness. \nWe do not operate farms long term. We do not duplicate local leadership. Instead\, we partner with established organizations\, build infrastructure\, and transfer ownership. This model allows communities to thrive independently while Fish Farm Collaborative expands its reach. The result is global impact rooted in local leadership. \nThis is prevention that lasts. \nThis is food security with dignity. \nThis is impact that scales. \nSupport Fish Farm Collaborative and help go upstream. \nPurchase your ticket’s HERE for FFC’s 11th Annual Live Auction & Banquet!  \nFriday\, May 1st 2026 from 5-9pm at the Castaway in Portland\, OR \nContact Janey@fishfarmcollaborative.org for any questions or additional information.

SUMMARY:Release Party - Water Lines: A Life on Marshes\, Rivers\, Seas and in the Rain
DESCRIPTION:On June 23rd at 6:30 p.m.\, Patagonia Portland (1106 W Burnside Ave) will celebrate the release of Water Lines: A Life on Marshes\, Rivers\, Seas and in the Rain with author Riverhorse Nakadate\, a lifelong fly angler\, adventurer\, surfer\, musician and environmentalist. Guests will also enjoy a screening of his short film Reindeer Journals\, an ode to wilderness and living simply. This event is free and open to the public. Details / RSVP here. \n\nAbout Water Lines\nA luminous\, deeply felt collection of essays from Riverhorse Nakadate\, whose devotion to wild places and the healing power of water pulses through every page. Across 32 essays\, Nakadate paddles\, hikes\, casts\, surfs\, and canoes through landscapes as varied as the alpine lakes of Colorado\, the Oregon coast\, the salt marshes of his native Texas\, the trout streams of Minnesota\, Lapland in the Arctic Circle\, Africa\, and the mangrove swamps of the Yucatán. Whether he’s chasing redfish in a hurricane\, rescuing baby squirrels and migrating monarch butterflies\, or honoring his mother’s legacy with a canoe ride and a slice of sweet-potato pie\, Nakadate writes with poetic precision and a fierce\, tender reverence for the natural world and his fellow human travelers. For readers of Edward Abbey\, Barry Lopez\, Mary Oliver\, and Jim Harrison\, this book is a soulful invitation to step off the grid and into the current.\n\nA press release is posted here.

SUMMARY:Fly Fisher Foundation and FCO Auction
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nWe are pleased to announce that the Flyfishers’ Club of Oregon and The Flyfisher Foundation ARE holding a big party and a fundraising auction on Saturday\, September 26\, at the newly remodeled ballroom at Montgomery Park. \nAt the urging of members\, we have chosen to hold an informal afternoon event with hard appetizers\, beer\, and wine instead of a more formal evening affair with a sit-down dinner. \nThere will be a small silent auction on Saturday\, open only during the event\, as well as the traditional live auction and paddle raise. In addition\, an online silent auction will be available for bidding the week prior to the live event. \nWhile the auction will include plenty of fishing-related items for bid\, planners are also working to line up non-fishing items\, especially those that offer experiences – restaurants\, stays at cabins/houses\, gift certificates for services\, and so on. \nDetails are still being finalized\, and more information will be coming soon. In the meantime\, if you have items you would like to donate for auction\, please contact Paul Franklin at p.franklin@frontier.com. \nBe sure to mark your calendar for Saturday\, September 26th\, for the big event!
