December Zoom program- -Designing Flies by Jack Hagan — Northwest Flyfishing Outfitters
Jack Hagan, is the managing partner of NW Flyfishing Outfitters and has been in the fly fishing
industry for over 25 years. He has traveled and fished extensively across the globe. His favorite
destination is the Skeena Region of British Columbia where he has spent time in many of the
lodges in Terrace and Smithers. In addition to running Portland’s oldest fly shop, Jack guided the
Deschutes and other Oregon rivers for 20 plus years. Retired from guiding, he spends most of
his time running the day to day operations of the fly shop. He and his wife Polli, also own a
small berry farm South of Canby. When not in the shop or working the farm, you’ll find Jack
and his son Finn doing research and development on local waters. A contract tyer for Solitude
Fly company, Jack has developed many trout, bass, and steelhead flies that are commercially
available at most fly shops.
Jack, will be tying awesome steelhead and trout flies. Jack will discuss designing of flies, materials and tradecraft techniques. Jack encourages everyone to have have their fly tying station set up to follow along and present their own creations. Jack encourages recommendations on the type of flies one wants to see tied. There will be a drawing at the end of the presentation for two awesome gifts. Must be Zoom present for a chance to win.
